50 Shades of Blonde
FRIDAY (a week ago) I was watching my favorite youtube channels (Evelina, IAMKARENO, Classisinternal, Mimi Ikonn, and Nikki DeRoest) and came across this awesome video about going blonde/pastel hair by IAMKARENO. Instantly, I was fired up with the idea of going blonde… and before I knew it – I was calling Zinke Knoebel Hair Studio to make an appointment. Now, when I have an idea – I want it now, I do not want to wait…  I requested my hair stylist and the time she was available was at 6 pm that day… I called at 9 am.  IT WAS THE LONGEST WAIT EVER! For the next 9 hours, I was bugging Frederick (my fiancé) with: “Should I do it?” and “Will it look good?”  This was a big step for me as my wedding is coming up soon and I did not want to end up with fried hair or even worse- no hair… haha I mean that might have been fun too… lol

When I got to the salon, I showed a few pictures of what I wanted and the process began.. Bleach, hair color, foils, heat cap thingy…  As I was sitting under the heat thing my eyes started to water and burn a little… but I did not care…  I was already imagining my hair being nice and ashy blonde…  I kept asking questions – “How does it look?”… “Is it yellow?”… and then there was hair washing and toning and then the mirror… hmm it looked pretty yellow…  I could hear my hair stylist gasp a little and say that it was definitely not brown anymore. Meantime, I was crossing my fingers and praying that after drying it will be better…  It was already after 8pm, the salon was closing… no time to fix… “What have I done”, I thought to myself…  However, my sweet hair stylist said that I could come and be her model for the Tuesday’s class (mandatory to Aveda stylists) and get it finished.  I was so happy – but I yet had to show Frederick my oompa loompa hair… he said I was beautiful even with orange-yellow hair… wow, he must really love me.

Then came THE LONGEST WEEKEND EVER.  First, I was anxious to get to Tuesday.  Secondly, I was kind of stuck at home (oompa loompa hair).

TUESDAY night came I was ready to get my head bleached and blonde!  A thousand foils and 3 hours later (my poor hairstylist..haha) my hair was finally blonde… kind of. I was a bit disappointed because as my hair was toning, I overheard the class instructor telling my hairstylist that she should warm up my hair instead of making it ashy… In my mind, I was totally saying – no no no – I want ashy… I want to be blonde blonde…arghhhh!! My hair turned to be a warm blonde with lighter pieces throughout. It was pretty but not exactly what I envisioned.

WEDNESDAY morning I went to Sally’s Beauty Supply and got a more ashy toner to get rid of the warmth in my hair. The most recommended one was Wella Color Charm T18 Lightest Ash Blonde… I also got a lilac hair color to play around with at the end of the summer… go crazy or go home… haha

TODAY I feel like summer – there is sunshine everywhere.. including my head.. haha
Go blonde, be bold… and hopefully not bald 😉
