Hi guys!! So these past few weeks have been insane!! I’m so excited to be finally done with this semester of Interior Design school!! I was taking a few studio classes and a couple of writing classes… whew- honestly the hardest semester that I had so far! However, hardest does not mean the least fun… it was like the best semester as well!! I have been able to gain knowledge in residential design and learn more about architectural perspectives…I will be posting another blog with all the work from this semester and will talk about what the project involved and etc. DID I MENTION THAT I MADE ALL A’s this semester? I do not know what it is, but since ever I met Frederick (my fiancé) I gained some sort of motivation of making all A’s and it has been great!!
This morning Frederick, Murï (our 8th month old puppy) and I went for a walk… What a great morning it was!! It is so hard to get motivated to be active sometimes… little steps at the time. Walking our doggie first, then going to the Y every day, next thing you know we are world body builders… haha but seriously, our wedding is coming up so soon and there is some work to do for that…but I like to eat candy and cookies…ahhh
I love baking!! Well, cooking all together! Today I made a delicious Apple Sharlotka (basically a very fluffy cake with apples, Russian cuisine). I have been trying to make it for two times and everytime it looked pretty but tasted like eggs… or some kind pasta noodles… not very tasty. TODAY it has changed… I think the walk gave me all the luck I needed for the day! Nah, I found a recipe that made more sense.. So here it is the yummy recipe for the Apple Sharlotka- fiancé approved.
APPLE SHARLOTKA RECIPE:
1 cup flour
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. baking powder
3/4 cup sour cream
2 apples (peeled and sliced)
Put the oven on 350F or 180C (depends what is your oven setting-celcius or fahrenheit). Mix sugar and egg until fluffy. Add sifted flour, baking powder, sour cream and continue mixing until well blended. Take a cake pan (the one that has retractable bottom) and spray it with oil. Arrange nicely half of the apples at the bottom, pour the cake dough, place the rest of the apples on top. Bake for 35-45 minutes… until done.. check with the chopstick down the middle for stickiness.. if it is sticky bake it for additional 5-10 min… watch it! When done, take it out, cool, sprinkle with powder sugar.
ENJOY!
